Exciting opportunities lie ahead for Northamptonshire Business community as awards specialists, Events and PR declared the inaugural SME Northamptonshire Business Awards ‘Open for entry’ at the launch on Tuesday April 26th, which was hosted by awards sponsors Northampton Council.
Cllr Tim Hadland, Northampton Borough Council cabinet member for regeneration, enterprise and planning, said: ‘Northampton Alive is changing the face of our town, and the Northampton Waterside Enterprise Zone has provided so many new opportunities.
‘Most of the town’s recent success is down to its businesses, and their excellence is something we’re delighted to be able to recognise through these awards.
‘Figures just releases by Centre for Cities showed that Northampton is second in the UK for business start-ups, behind only London, which demonstrates our enterprising spirit.
‘And that’s why we’ve chosen to sponsor the Northampton Business of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year awards.’
The Northampton Business of the Year award will be sponsored by Northampton Alive and the Entrepreneur of the Year award will be sponsored by the Northampton Waterside Enterprise Zone.
Awards guru Damian Cummins said ‘Our awards stretch from Liverpool to Buckinghamshire, with quite a few stops in between, including London and Surrey. The Events and PR team relocated to the Northamptonshire region 18 months ago and we feel it makes sense to do, what we do best in the region we work.’
‘Awards really are a hidden marketing gem, as well as the opportunity to go networking with other winners, awards offer a great PR prize to those businesses shortlisted.’
Category winners will have the opportunity to win prizes totally £16,000 in advertising from both awards media partners, Northants Herald & Post and headline sponsor The Business Times
The SME Northamptonshire Business Awards are open to all sole traders and businesses in the region who commenced business before January 2014, or for new businesses who started after January 2014.
Entry is free and there are up to 15 categories. Businesses can enter up to three categories and all applications must be submitted online.

With Northamptonshire being the home of businesses from the Mercedes AMG F1 team to the Carlsberg headquarters, the county serves as the stomping ground of companies from across the spectrum – what better place to host a business awards?
The awards will be officially launched in April, with any business with under 250 employees being able to enter. Categories will range from Best New Business to Networking Group of the Year with businesses being able to enter up to 3 categories.
Being based in Northamptonshire ourselves we have no doubt that the SME Northamptonshire Awards will be a wonderful success!
